Hi Thea......Love the button nose! Lovely lovely portrait as always. I was on Stewarding duty at ODSA this morning and saw your delightful work there... just like a breath of fresh air! Delightful.....

Ah, could this be the next formula one racing driver? He certainly looks the part in his Ferrari cap! Very nice, happy portrait here Thea. Well done!

Lovely portrait, nice skin tones.

Your best is always good enough Thea, lovely portrait.

Ferrari are always on the lookout for new talent - and young though Alonso is compared to some of us, he won't be young forever. So step forward, Noah! All you need to do is become a brilliant driver, and away you go. It's a very affectionate, pleasing portrait - accomplished with your usual clear washes; and as a fellow Ferrari afficionado - the word is tifosi, as Noah will know - I'm especially attracted to it. Vroom vroom!

A lovey portrait Thea. - but I would prefer it if he grew up to be another Michael Schumacher! Seven world titles even if one was in dispute.

A great portrait and I wish him well

Thank you very much Ruth, Louise, Glennis, Fiona, Robert, Julie and Michael for approving of my efforts. Robert, I had to ask my Formula 1 fount of knowledge (hubby) what tifosi meant and Noah definitely falls into that category. Alonso or Schumaker, Noah will just be happy if he is in a racing car. Noah hasn't seen the portrait yet as he is away on holiday - I do hope it passes muster - children are such stern critics!

Thank you very much, Kistie. This one is to be framed for Noah's bedroom, and some of the others were framed for the exhibition I had last February. Two of my portraits are currently being exhibited in the Oswestry Art Society Annual Exhibition so I had to frame them for that. Others just lie about in my studio - I should really get them mounted at least, I know. Perhaps when all the grandchildren are older they will want them - who knows.

What a treasured memory - lovely x

Thank you very much, Paulette. I do love painting the grandchildren as I know their little faces so well and enjoy trying to capture what they are all about.

This is a charming portrait, Thea - another one to add to your wonderful collection. The red cap sets it off perfectly, whether it leads to a racing career or not!

This is super, Thea! It's such a lovely momento of a precious moment.

Yes he does have a cute button nose Thea but don't tell him I said so, at 7years old he probably considers himself all grown up LOL A super addition to the family gallery.

Another super addition to your family portraits.

Thank you very much Jane, Seok, Val and Debs for such positive feedback.

Another fantastic portrait Thea

Thank you, Petra, for stopping by and leaving such a nice comment.

Bet he's proud of this Thea, very well done. Great portraits you achieve these days!

Hey, Thea, this is great. I tried a watercolour portrait myself last week and my efforts make me even more appreciative of your skill with what I regard as the most challenging medium of them all.

Thank you for those kind words, Duncan. Having just seen your wonderful portraits in pastel, I am sure you can transfer those skills to watercolour quite easily as you have 'the eye' for capturing the essence of a person. Watercolour is risky and challenging but If you work with it rather than trying to pummel it into shape, then it can produce great effects. I look forward to perhaps seeing one of your watercolour portraits?

Another wonderful portrait Thea, you have such a delicate touch. I am just about to post my first painting of my grandchildren and would very much appreciate your critique. My problem is working full time and find it difficult to keep up with everyone's work. The pages move so fast!

This is my 7 year old grandson, Noah, who is Formula 1 racing mad. He has been surgically attached to the Ferrari baseball cap that I bought him for his birthday and wanted a painting of him wearing it for his Ferrari themed bedroom. I actually found the portrait hard to do as Noah is between that baby chubby face look and a proper boy face - still got a button nose! Anyway, I've done my best for him. Watercolour on Langton 300lbs.

I am a watercolourist first and foremost as I love the qualities of the medium, its riskiness and unpredictability. I started painting about 8 years ago and it has now become an integral part of my life. Hopefully, I will continue to paint into my dotage as I am given to understand that you can…
