This is painted in watercolours on Saunders 200lb rough paper. It was done at a workshop on similar types of subject. I adopted a highly stylised method without being too Lowryesque. I knew these scenes well having lived in South Lancashire from 1949 to 66, I feel I have conveyed something of what the scenes were like with the antlike workforce scurrying about their business with a background of grim mill buildings.
