this is lovely..............

Thanks Ruthy, the original is better than this repro the contrast has gone mad in a few places,

Hi Terence, thanks for your comment on my gallery, so far i am finding the wet and dry sandpaper quite fun to play with, i got 25 assorted sheets approx A4 for £1 from poundland , great for sketching and experimenting.... i have just coloured a few sheets with Acrylic so i now have a few toned grounds to work on. I'm impressed with your pastel painting especially the smaller details as even with the sandpaper i find pastels tricky to control for the details.

I'm afraid it is going to cost a lot more than that for the bigger sheets of Hermes paper Steve. But it is worth it, it is a lovely substrate to work on and it does hold a lot more pastel than the Ingres paper. A good tip, if you feel it is getting clogged , is to mask the area with a piece of newspaper and spray on fixative, then work on the fixed area. Fixative can also aid darkening areas - I did that on the very dark wall on the right.

Great pastel painting. Many thanks for comments on my irises.

recently went to Dubrovnik, you have captured the scene well.
