Copy of "the Floods at Port Marly" by Terence McDonald
This was an experiment in making a pastel copy of an oil painting by a recognised artist. I love the original "The Floods at Port Marly" by Alfred Sisley, which I saw in Washington some years ago. I had a print from a calendar which I used to make my own version, while trying to keep to the artist's palette (not easy in pastel) and technique (even harder). I learnt a great deal from this experiment, please excuse the drawing errors which an observant eye will pick out! The painting is 17" x 12" and is on Hermes 500 grit wet and dry paper mounted on card. The pastels used were a mix of Schminke, and Rowney with the odd bit of Unison thrown in. I hope I am not infringing copyright by showing it here - needless to say it is not for sale.
