I actually think it's glorious Sylvia, I like the intensity

To me its bold and confident Sylvia. Art doesn't have rules for me. What you paint is a personal work, not a photograph. It's fine. Don't dare change it.

Thanks both of you.... I will probably do it again it is a favourite flower and I have painted it several time times.... promise Jim I won't change it.....I wouldn't t dare.

Wow, Sylvia, this is fantastic.

Love the flowing lines and colours you’ve used Sylvia.

I love it Sylvia.

This is lovely work with a great freshness to it.

It only doesn't work because it's not what you intended to achieve. It is a bit heavy, though that wouldn't bother me; but it's quite a long way from your preliminary sketches in your pad. Just do another version, I should....

It’s a lovely painting as it is , but you can only see the faults. Less lines around the delicate flower would help to soften it I think , but in sure you know what is needed next time .

Beautiful 😍

I think it's great Sylvia

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. 👍

Disappointment is part of the art process if you're serious about what you do...and you are. This is fine.

Van Gogh never painted a sky that truly resembled a sky, a hay stack or sunflower likewise. Picasso never painted a person that looked like one and even Michelangelo painted Heavenly impressions. If photorealism is our aim we may as well buy a camera. Art is the artist without explanation or apology. Wow, did I just write that? At least it's original. (-:

It may not be what you intended, Sylvia, but it’s bold and colourful with a lovely composition. (It’s perhaps a little difficult to be subtle with the Inktense pencils? - they produce such vibrant colour.)

So much positivity ...wow Jim such articulation...you have all made me look again thanks. It isn't what I had in my head but you have saved it from the bin. And another try @nother day...soon. 🌹

I love the energy and movement here, Sylvia - good work!

Thank you Anne .

Nothing wrong with this at all. It is eye-catching and bold. Love it!

Thanks Janet.

This is my Inktense pencil# on A3 paper. Somewhere it has gone wrong ...I've put it here to ask if anyone else can see why. My opinion is it's too heavy ,too intense . convolvulus are quite a delicate flower! ,quie showy, flower and die in a day. I've missed it somewhere...helpppp.

About the Artist
Sylvia Evans

Sylvia Evans. I am mainly a self taught artist, though I did spend a year at Rochdale School of Art in the late 1950’s. I was then made to get a “Proper Job” by my father, so I spent the next few years in a nursing career. I married and had a family, just picking up a pencil to amuse my…
