That's an excellent portrait. Distinguished then and distinguished now. The paper has lasted better than it should have. I always try and use a support that will 'last forever', just in case the work is worthy. Yours is worthy so have it framed/protected and don't use your age as an excuse not to!? Your family will want to keep it.

Oh my Syd, you do look serious in this! A great portrait of the younger you and the likeness is still there. How about doing an up-to-date selfie? I'm sure we would all like to see it.

Syd, if I were you I'd whip that over to a conservator while there's still time to save it: it's got the Old Master look in more ways than one, and it could be preserved. You clearly had a good eye even as a 24 year old: dour, mind you .... the look of an earnest young man who would go far and one day manage the company. Which I think you more or less did. An historic document!

I did two self portraits way back but outwith seeing them now. I may have a bash at it some day when I am at a loose end.

Robert , Ellen and Linda I didnt realise there was a page 2 so i am late in thanking you for your great comments ....my surviving family can do what they like with my paintings as I have a lot more than these two and all done at the same period.

Thank you Jim for your kind comment. I have already shown 72 paintings not including drawings and cartoons. That portrait was done 67 years ago when my eyesight was a whole lot better than it is now.l have AMD and my right eye sees wobbly lines and double vision all of which is a handicap. I posted quite a few paintings this year the latest recent one being a boatie one which you may have missed.
