I certainly don't think this is a mess Syd, nor do I feel that I have to see 'anything'. I like this purely for the shapes, composition and energy. I found myself looking at it for quite some time and I like it a lot.

Syd, If you want us to see realistic items in your abstract I would suggest a man in a hat next to an unusual plant. Was it difficult for you to try an abstract? Do you prefer realism yourself?

Does it please the eye and the senses - if it does it's a good abstract - don't think you need to add anything - looks good to me as it is.

I do indeed see the glimmerings of an oriental painting - which you could achieve if you were to go further. On the other hand - you've probably said all you wanted to say, insofar as you actually planned to say anything specific; it's at that intriguing stage between the two.

I don't often look at abstract, but with a slight new interest in them, I see this as a smashing depiction of our kitchen yesterday when I was cooking, yes me cooking!!! a Jamie Pukka yellow curry to be eaten tonight. I see knife, chillis, onions and the general mess I make.

No not a mess.....it has a very calming quality about it.

Thank you all for your kind encouraging comments . you are a charming and er. discerning group of people. PS My wife doesnt like my Asiatic woman realistic abstract either and i dont blame her. .glad youliked my pure abstract as shown here.

To explain . This is an abstract which was made entirely without any previous planning or even thought . the marks are completely spontaneous and are arranged just like setting up a still life to suit what looks ok to you but others would set up differently. I used very few colours and left white spaces and stopped when i thought i should. some will consider this is just a mess ,like what a used palette looks like but there could be the start of a realistic (note the word) abstract in there somewhere. perhaps a Chinese village with some lift -outs and painting bits and pieces. can you see anything at all ?
