That's worked very well - and on watercolour paper, so none of the issues about which we've been talking (at some length) on the Forum..... I have synthetic fan brushes: I've noted that some writers disparage them - on the grounds that they can be used to produce predictable effects, eg,too regular tree tops. Well, yes, they can; how clever of them to notice. However they can ALSO be used for other purposes altogether - i use them for scrubbing in, and also (perhaps oddly to some) to achieve a straight line with a bit of character - i.e., not in obvious or predictable ways; they can also produce very gentle strokes, they can be used in stabbing techniques .... You do wonder why some people are so keen to assume that we're always going to use our materials in the most amateurish ways...

Thank you Robert for your always encouraging and interesting comment. Must try some of your tricks with a fan brush.making a line with it indeed !

Oh Sydley I so like this one. You have got those colours just right. Long hot summer days. Great

thanks also to you ,Sylvia for your lovely comments. I hope you like the trees as i am thinking of using the fan brush method for trees in close up in the future.
