Delicate and very beautiful. There is something magical about a white flower painted well - and you have certainly done that here.

I agree with Thea and the colours in the background show off the white bloom perfectly. I like the addition of the semi abstract leaves.

Sharon, this is stunning. How many colours are there to be found in a white petal? Lovely. And I must look up 'giant tree peony'... I have some bare patches in my garden (north facing, London clay, wish me luck!). The orange centre could have looked too much or too contrasted but somehow you've managed to not do that at all.

Thanks ladies, glad you like it. Caroline, take a look at http://www.kelways.co.uk/page/tree-peony-care/10/ ; they make it sound easy, although I must admit I don't need to lavish care on mine either.

Superb Tree Peony flower Sharon, lovely light and super delicate texture to the petals

Beautiful and luminous Sharon.

Love the delicacy of the pallet, contrasting against the depth of background, beautiful.

Thank you all for your comments. I found the subject very daunting, especially as its quite large (50x60 cm), and squinting for traces of colour made my head spin, but I am very pleased with how it has turned out.

A beautiful and very delicate painting - the petals feel so light.

Hello Sharon, I'm so grateful for your feedback. Your work is exquisite and you'll be a hugely valued member of POL. Your observations are astute and penetrating: it's useful to rock the boat when you suspect that complacency threatens. you'll find that the group can accommodate all comers. Sorry for having missed your previous work which - like the above - is deserving of the highest praise.

This is just gorgeous.

Really beautiful.

A giant tree peony flower from my garden, painted from a photograph I took last year. Couldn't resist trying a close-up. Roll on Spring !
