Beautiful painting, Sharon!

This is a beautiful painting, Sharon. I could look at this for hours and hours. Such lovely, warm tones. Happy New Year to you!xx

This is a beauty Sharon, very well painted, lovely.

The blue/red mix you are using for roof tops etc is so effective to describe old clay tiles and brick work. Beautiful work Sharon.

Fabulous work Sharon :)

Love the roof tops- really good

Thanks all for taking the trouble to comment, with such encouraging remarks. Fiona, apart from the greens I only used three colours - ultramarine, alizarine and D.Smiths' quinacrodine burnt orange, which is a real favourite of mine.

This is lovely Sharon, especially the blend of colours. (DS quin. burnt orange is also one of my favourites!)

Fabulous painting Sharon with some beautiful variations in colour and tone ; I've been away for the last while without the temptations of the internet and now back to reality hope you have a happy , artistic and peaceful new year

Cheers Jenny, nice to read your comment. Its a beautifully vibrant colour, isnt it, but because it can also be quite low key, very versatile.

Fifth – and for the moment, probably last – interpretation of an old photograph from our local archive. The sepia photo, from 1866, shows the market square, the church of St. George, and a birdseye view of part of the old town ; it emphasizes the higgledy-piggledy, almost organic, growth of medieval towns, and reminded me of the beautiful work Egon Schiele did in Cesky Krumlov (http://www.4-construction.com/cz/clanek/mesto-cesky-krumlov-egon-schiele_5761/). I tried to get some of that same feeling here. Today, the church is no longer on the edge of town, but right in the centre, and all the green areas to the north have been built up, with a motorway right through the middle. Watercolour on Canson Moulin du Roy NOT 300 gsm, 30x40cm. Original photograph courtesy of Archief Eemland.
