I love your old bus Seok and if I could do greens like you I'd be happy........ brush marks remind me of the cubists! Great colours.

Absolutely delightful. Such an intimate snapshot.

Love the bus and the composition, but I agree the greens could have had a bit more variation and punch. Having seen the lush vegitation you speak of I understand you saying they are hard to get away from.

I do not think I could have done any better with the greens. Wonderful painting of a wonderful adventure, Love it

So happy to be able to put a comment on this one, having lots of problems with Pol page! I think this is a super subject - love that old bus, and always look forward to your advenures! Lovely painting and thanks for your comments too. ps where are we going next? lol !

I agree with the above comments, Seok, it is a beautiful and lively souvenir of what must have been a marvellous day. It is always very interesting to read your story about your paintings. Perfectly painted as usual!

Wonderful painting - I think you work is getting better and better with every one you post. I agree about the greens and think that slightly more muted colours do show up the red of the bus - good decision I feel. You seem to have such an exciting life going all these interesting and glamorous sounding place. I just go to Sainsburys lol! Perhaps I missed your first explanation about your travels, but are you constantly travelling or is this a round the world trip of a lifetime?

No problem with the greens here - another lovely painting in your usual superb style.

I love it Seok, both the painting and the story behind it! There is always something exciting going on in your life. Kind regards from me.

You do visit some interesting places and it's lovely for us to see them here!

Another charming painting to remind you of a wonderful experience - and thanks for sharing it all with us, Seok. Like many other posters, I think the greens work here against the red bus and well done for diving in with them. You really manage them very well.

You're very brave going up in a hot air balloon...I struggle to go up a ladder! Another super collection to your portfolio...I like it a lot.

I agree with everyone, another beautiful painting, Seok I love the composition, the old bus is great

Hi Seok, agree with my namesake re. the balloon adventure, I have a semi - disabled friend who went up in one in Kenya. She thinks I'm a real wimp! I also think your greens are fine. Have you experimented with dropping various yellows and blues on to damp paper? You can get some lovely mixtures which might give you ideas for varigated foliage effects.

LOvely colours and the bus and people are delightful. :)

Interesting and informative painting Seok, love to hear of your travels.

Lovely old bus full of character and a charming composition.

I always enjoy your travelogue paintings Seok but I agree that the foliage could be a little more lush, but lovely painting just the same.

Thank you so very much, everyone! You are all too kind! Stephen, I will definitely look into dropping blues and yellows. I am determined to slay this green monster at some point! Thea, my trips are usually to the supermarket too, it's just that I am an inveterate photographer everytime I go travelling so I end up with years of photographic reference materials which are creating a backlog! Rick and William - absolutely right. I think you've hit the nail on the head - more punch for the greens is what I need. Now if only the theory could translate so easily into practice!

Another wonderful story.....with another wonderful painting!!

What a fantastic old bus and ,as always, excellently painted.

Thanks very much, Fiona!

Thanks very much, Val!

I note William's comments about the greens, but having just graduated from a computer to a laptop and had all sorts of problems with colour saturation differences between the two screens, I have just realised that everyone is going to see each painting differently depending on their individual computer screens. I hadn't realised this before but I have now experimented by looking at one of my paintings loaded on POL on 7 different computers and laptops to compare depth of colour, brightness and contrast between what appears on each screen. I was amazed at how different the painting was on each individual screen. On a couple the painting looked very washed out, on another the colour was too intense. So in the end we are all seeing a totally different painting!! It just struck me that when we tell someone that they need to beef the colours up or play them down, we may be seeing something completely different to them. There is no right or wrong - just different screens it would seem! Just a thought.

You're spot on about computers, Thea. But I think William is right here - the greens could do with a bit of punch. Hate them - the greens! They get the better of me everytime!

Congratulations on this marvellous painting making the top ten for September!

Many congratulations Seok for being in the top ten, fantastic painting

Thank you very much, Lesley and Petra! And many congratulations on your paintings making the list too!

There you are, Seok - if anything should tell you that your greens were lovely then being in the Top Ten surely does that. Well done - it is a brilliant painting.

Congratulations for being in the Top Ten, Seok. It is so well deserved, not only with this painting but with your whole gallery.

After a hot air balloon trip over the city of Bagan in Myanmar, we sat near our 1960s bus for a safari-style breakfast. The city of Bagan is a land littered with archaeological ruins of stupas built by ancient Burmese monarchs. I think I just about got away with the greens, but they are a bit more messy and muddy than I would have liked. I thought of using some other color, but in this scene, there was no escaping the fact that I needed the greens to capture the lush, verdant landscape of Bagan and to bring out the red of the bus.
