Nice style to this one, Seok, You've blended the buildings nicely into the landscape & the sky.

Nice painting, Seok, great contrast old/new well painted. i like much the white building plunged in the green.

Those luscious greens again, Seok! I love them! I love the boat on the water and the colour of the water too. This is such a restful palette that I could look at it all day.

A smashing juxtaposition if ever there was one, whatever it means. Good painting and recording of the time and place Seok

Excellent depiction of old meets new Seok. It appears to me also that you've taken it a step further and painted the colonial bungalow and surrounding trees, in a smooth, relaxed traditional way. Yet the modern buildings have been painted sharp, blocky and edgy. Did you do that by design? Beautifully painted as always Seok!

Beautiful combination of old and new, Seok. Beautiful painting.

They look very over bearing those towers. I like the way you have used the medium in this piece Seok.

Love the bungalow and trees but it doesn't gel with the tower blocks. How did they get planning permission for that? Great en plein air painting though.

Gosh en plain air! Complex scene well handled. The old building looks vulnerable under those Giants!

A lovely painting Seok. I'm not a lover of modern architecture and those tower blocks definitely don't live comfortably alongside scenery like this. Amazing to be able to do this en plein air.

You are having some fun out doors! You are producing some fabulous paintings. I love the textures and colours.

Nice contrast Seok. Beautifully painted. Love the greens.

Great combination of buildings Seok, The new is never as romantic is it ? :)

A super piece of work, Seok, you have captured an amazing transition, I hope the buildings in the foreground survive the future.

Thank you very much, everyone! Like most of you, I prefer the old traditional architecture. Unfortunately, with the constraints of space, Singapore, like every other city, is facing the encroachment of these "carbuncles" (as Prince Charles called them). Fiona, unfortunately, I didn't think plan the more traditional finish for the house, the paper was just a tad small, so it was hard to make it loose and blocky! Fred, it's been a while since you've been to Singapore. Everything gets planning permission nowadays, more's the pity. We have some really ghastly modern architecture - there's really no accounting for taste!

This is great Seok, the buildings contrast of new to old is very clever. Love your tree greens.

A very intresting painting Seok..I like the natural greens against the bluey grey of the man made strucutres of the towers. Well done!

The old and the new together Seok. This makes a smashing painting.

You really have something here, Seok! Well done.

Thanks very much, Margaret, Chandra, Sarah and Ruth!

View from Labrador Nature Reserve in Singapore. The scene represents a confluence of the old and the new, of past and present. A colonial black and white bungalow, with its symmetrical lines, set against the backdrop of a swanky condominium development named Reflections at Keppel Bay, with its surreal post-modern architecture. In a way, the story of Singapore in transition. Painted en plein air. Acrylic on Paper.
