Lovely Seok, clean ,crisp and lovely colours.

This is a lovely picture and your explanations of the places are great to have accompanying them. Can you tell me Seok are these paintings done from photos you have taken whilst there.

Beautiful watercolour Seok, I love the composition and delicate colours

A very colourfull little piece Seok, interesting subject too as always.

Again one word. ---- amazing

Such a beautiful illustration to your "history lesson" always read with pleasure.

You've done it again Seok Yam !! Absolutely gorgeous. So tasteful

Superb study - what a lovely subject

Beautiful watercolour, Seok, and I especially like the way you have depicted the bag

Another great study, very subtle. How often do you get home to do all these paintings?

Super little painting, Seok. I do hope you are going to collate these paintings into a book. I think you would sell a lot of copies. I love the clean-ness of your paintings, with their subtle colours and always beautifully drawn. Another gem.

This is again beautiful, Seok. I particulary appreciate the story you tell about your painting (I agree with Avril).

Another little gem. I can imagine an exhibition of your work with accompanying explainations..... have you ever considered presenting one or perhaps you have already done one? Thea's idea of a book is brilliant.

Nearly missed this one in the busyness of life, Seok, and so glad I didn't! Agree with all the other comments - it's delightful and so characteristically your very own style.

Wow! Thank you so very much everyone for being so very encouraging! Joy, yes, I paint mainly from photos. I know that a lot of artists say that there is nothing like painting from life, but when one is travelling with time constraints and non-artists, painting on site is just not practicable. However, the main reason that I paint from my travel photos is that I just hate having to sit in the hot sun with the glaring white paper, passerbys staring at my work and adding their two cents worth! Thea and Lesley, the book is a lovely idea, and I'm very flattered you think I could do one. However. I feel I haven't been painting long enough to warrant a book yet, I think. I would love to do one when I've really matured as an artist, so it will (hopefully) showcase something a bit more accomplished than what I have right now (when I finally get my ellipses and perspective right, for example - I think the wok in this painting is a bit off!).

Your work is already very accomplished Seok so get started on that book!! Another little gem with a very interesting narrative to compliment it.

Superb! What a good idea to make a book out of all these lovely watercolours and stories. You can create one by yourself online and then see what it could look like printed and edited professionally. Worth thinking of, Seok. Seriously!

I love the way you have left the background blank in this and other paintings - so that the figure becomes the focus. Love your work!

Thank you very much, Jackie!

A Burmese-Indian street vendor on Mandalay Hill, in Mandalay, Myanmar (Burma). Indians have lived in Myanmar for centuries, but most of the Burmese-Indians currently living in Myanmar are descendants of Indian immigrants to Myanmar during British rule in Myanmar in the mid 19th to early 20th centuries. During colonial times, ethnic Indians played an important role in the economy and military, and served as soldiers, civil servants, merchants and moneylenders. Many of them left Myanmar after a series of anti-Indian riots and subsequent forced expulsions. Today, they form only about 2 of the population in Myanmar and are a disenfranchised minority, generally barred from serving in the military and working in the civil service.
