Satu, a remarkable self portrait, the palette is wonderful. I see wisdom, intelligence and depth......absolutely love it!

I've drawn a self-portrait but never painted one - perhaps nervous of a tendency to flatter myself: but you've not yielded to that, so maybe I should have a go myself. Quite a bleak looking study, do you think? A touch of regret? Works well, anyway - and others will probably see different things in it .... I think we tend to interpret portraits rather in time to the mood music in our own heads at any given moment.

You kind people, thank you so much for the lovely comments Henry, Carole, Diana, Ruth, Dennis, Fiona and Robert. As I said before it was a scary experience and I didn't want to try make myself to look younger because I'm not. So here I am, wrinkles and all.

This is an amazing first attempt Satu, some lovely mark making passages in here, keep it going but perhaps introduce a few more portrait colours, go for it!.

Belated "fantastic" Satu. A real atmosphere and mood to this - this is a real face with real thoughts. Sometimes, portraits lack this, not this one. Love the way you have treated the light.
