I bought "The complete guide to watercolour" by David Webb a couple of months ago, and there are some excellent articles in it, including some work by Richard Thorn. He painted a scene of the coastline near Tater Du lighthouse using some vibrant colours. I wanted to use some of his colour choices, but with an entirely different view of the lighthouse. I found a view on the internet and used that as a basis for this watercolour, but changed the colours of the sea.
