Lovely tangly , twiggy, twirly pic. A little forgotten corner. Like lots.

Been a long wait for a picture Robert but well worth the wait. you have captured the character of that tree superbly lovely balanced composition .the shapes of the tree branches are echoed in the foreground along with the colours the painting is full of harmony .I also love the distant tree line on the angle .Well painted

Have a feeling I might know the location, but so what - it is an exemplary piece. Something I would never attempt.

Lovely to see a painting of yours again Robert and it's super. A tree with character and also, I found your rat!

Beautiful tree very natural Robert, found ratty too.

I love old and gnarled trees, this is a beauty from you Robert.

Thank you for these kind comments - I have to choose my moments just now, because in the wrong kind of light it's like wearing somebody else's glasses; but I wouldn't want to make that an excuse - it slows me down this cataract, but I can work around it and maybe even get a bit less tight, the less I can see. I'd like that operation soon though, if it's all the same to the NHS. Derek, I don't know if you saw this spot - it's along the old Blackgang Road, which leads to Knowles Farm on Niton Undercliff but no longer to anywhere else, because the cliff fell on it. This is the rough old thing that you saw on the easel when you came to see me the other week; you'll remember that it had a very red (burnt sienna) ground, which I think is very good for a largely green painting. Ratty sends his regards to all his admirers.

Wow. An amazing painting.

This is super Robert, beautiful colours, lovely painting.

Super painting....and I spotted ratty :)

I hope you get your operation soon, Robert. However, this is a real beauty, I love trees with twisted branches and I also found ratty! All the best :) Mia

Yes it really is a great 'portrait' with such an expert use of greens - really special Robert.

A lovely gnarled old tree Robert. I'm sure that it can tell a story or two. The mauve against the green is scrummy! ( sorry! I m all out of art speak :)) Hope that you get your cateract done very soon.

Robert, I think your description sounds like me! I love all the tangled branches.

This is a good example that subjects to paint are all around us! Great painting Robert! I love it.

Old tree, much battered, shape lost, but still reaching out to its fellows... Acrylic, 16" by 12" on canvas board.
