Lovely painting Robert, you make your use of greens look so easy, great painting

brilliant work Robert. As usual your landscapes are a real treat.

I do admire a well painted water colour as I find the medium very difficult myself. A beautiful painting Robert.

Glad to see you back, Robert. This is again a beautiful landscape and perfectly painted (as usual). I love the depth in it. You painted the focal point off centre and I like that. There also are a lot of stunning details in the foreground. Now a tricky, a bit naughty question: did you use some opaque white and yellow (acryl or gouache) for the plants? I my opinion there is nothing wrong about this, it brings more life in the grasses; I just wanted to know! Thanks for your lovely comment on my "Archive-portfolio". I posted a reply on it there.

A great work and a great technique you have with watercolour. Quite intrigued by the red patch at the foot of the tree. Is it a wrapper? Is it a flower? Could it be a mislaid watercolour rag as discussed in Forum dispatches?

I love how you manage to get so much depth in your darker tones without them appearing muddy. You also have a gift of packing so much interest into your foregrounds without implying lots of fussy detail. Brilliant watercolour Robert.

Eagle-eyed, you lot.... yes Mia, there's a bit of opaque white (as it happens, Chromacolour acrylic); the yellows and reds are just as they come out of the tube (or in one case pan) though: I just applied them thickly (Naples Yellow plus Cadmium Yellow make a very opaque mix); I did think of painting the yellow flowers with acrylic, because they got a bit muddy - but then I thought better of it; I was at the fatal fiddling stage, so stopped. Michael, that bit of red is there, as you know, for a purpose! As to what it is .... well; you may like to fantasize about filmy undergarments ... but I couldn't possibly comment. Thanks to all for your comments - I have another version of this, minus any acrylic touches, which I may post for comparison purposes later.

Both lovely watercolours Robert but of the two I prefer this one. Like Fiona I admire the way you put so much detail into your undergrowth yet it never appears overworked or muddy, that's talent!

Two superb pieces, Robert!
