"A yellowish glaze", even. I can see to paint, but typing is something else again...

Lovely landscape Robert, great sky.

A very natural looking sky, beautiful coloured clouds with great recession. I would be tempted to put a bit of a glaze over parts of the white grasses just for a bit of variety, but that is me. I'm sure you know better than I do Robert.

Stlll thinking about a glaze - it needs to dry just a day or two more before I need to make a decision; and it's interesting how the paint changes very slightly as it dries....

Actually, young Swingler - you've caused me to do something I've virtually never done before: take advice after I've posted a painting. The paint WAS surface dry this afternoon, thanks to the medium I used, and I have applied a glaze of Indian Yellow and Scarlet Lake in places. It has killed that stark white with, I hope, minimal loss of impact. I may post it again - again, not something I often do, but if we can have a plethora of princesses in the gallery, perhaps a second bite at the cherry from me would be acceptable.

I would love to see your second posting Robert. I was gritting my teeth as I read this because I thought my suggestion had backfired! Oh and thanks for the 'young' not been called that for nigh on fifty years.

I love it Robert; so wild and windswept but where's ratty? Or do I need new glasses? Being older than such a youngster as you that could be possible.

I've made a horlicks of cropping this, but the colour is more true in this jpg than in the better adjusted one: so ignore that bit on the lower far right. Oil, 16" by 12", of a view from the Downs on the Isle of Wight's SE coast, based on my own sketches and a photograph by Barry Fitzgerald. I was going to put of yellowish glaze over parts of it, but reflecting that oil paint yellows a bit anyway over time, I thought I'd leave it to time and nature to finish it.
