I just love it: very lively, atmospheric and spontaneous. Only a bit of detail here and there: perfect! Love the colours and the light in the trees and the touches of flowers in the foreground: no more detail needed: stunning!

i knew this was your painting Robert, the instant i looked at it, super use of brushstrokes and colour, capturing what you require with such efficiency, it works so well, more soon please!

Beautiful - simple but so effective!

I agree with all the above comments. This is a wonderful lively painting.

After having a look at your other paintings in your gallery, this is soo spontaneaus. I think this is one of the best you ever done, Robert; Do not add anything at it. And give us more of this!!!perfect!!

I like the softness of the grass, a real Summer's day. I also like your new palette.

I have to go with other comments - this is so fresh and loose. A real change in you normal (although excellent) work. I would be very happy with this, and no it does'nt need anything more!

Very effective Robert..hope you use this palette again! Thanks for the comments about my Harlow Carr painting, but I was hardly delicate...just threw the paint on! Might do one more vibrant work then have another go at watercolour. Happy painting!

I think it is perfect the way it is and like your palette. Very effective.

Many thanks one and all - yes, I think I'm getting my inspiration back. Kirstie - have a go with oils: there are plenty of books and dvd's out there to give you a steer on how to start.

Soft but alive. I like the softer feel to this painting, but you have kept your wonderful vitality with some lovely, simple but discriptive marks. It looks finished to me.

This is fabulous, Robert! I always like the sense of movement in your paintings, and this one has it in spades.

Lovely painting Robert. Love the new colours and the pastelly effect you seem to have captured in this one. jx

This has such a misty and ethereal look to it. Wonderful atmosphere and light. Great palette as well.

You have a lovely gallery Robert with a lot of freedom in your work. Thank you for commenting on my work by the way.

Robert - your paintings have a look of someone who has painted outdoors a lot as you cant beat it for getting the feel of the scene. Thank you so much for telling us what colours you used and I have noted them in my sketch pad as I am off out painting on sat. I love the composition here too - I probably would have put the fence leading in from the other side but this probably works better. It always amazes me when I go out painting and hear other artists saying "but there is nothing here to paint" I suppose they want that big panorama or the postcard type of pic but I prefer these compositions and they are to be found everywhere ! I have just got a new pc so hope to keep up to date now with the gallery - it is a great source of enjoyment and learning

It is lovely as it is. The bushes are just bristling with life. One can imagine all manner of creatures living their lives around those bushes. I also love the brushwork in the graay area in the foreground.

hmmmmm up close it looks blurred, but from a distance (which all oil paintings should be viewed from) in my opinion :-) , it is a lovely painting :-)

Firstly, it's a pleasure to look through your gallery - this is my favourite, I love the subtle oiliness of it ! Secondly, I always enjoy your comments on the site !

9 1/2" x 7 1/2", on stretched canvas. This is really an oil sketch, but having reached this point I thought, do I really need to go any farther? I felt I'd said what I wanted to say about this particular scene, but if anyone thinks I should have developed it further, do let me know. Not my usual palette - Indian Red, Raw Sienna, Indian Yellow, Cerulean Blue, Prussian Blue, Permanent Sap Green; think I'll try that again.
