I think this is your best yet Paul and I love the background!

Awh shucks! Thank you Christine!

Just perfect. Hope your customer pays you well.

I think the background sets it off really well. Great painting.

Yes, it was the detailed background that stood out. Excellent painting.

Beautiful painting Paul, I agree with all above comments.

I agree with everyone as well Paul your rendering of tree bark and foliage is just as good as your work on the actual birds making for stunning work

Thank you Pat, Dawn, Gudrun, Carole and Ros. Yes Pat they will pay me for my time but I do need to start charging by the hour though....

Beautiful. I love the background too. Makes it more of a painting than a nature study and grounds the subject in its context. Lovely. Jx

Absolutely beautiful,

Well finally finished (almost)...... The painting is finished but I have to paint the bird ring on the males right leg which I preferred to do after scanning it, requirement from the customer who is a bird ringer and this is a bird he put the ring on. :-) If this one works out well then I may sell copies of it so I thought leaving out the ring would be a better option. :-) This one was a challenge due to there being two birds and a complicated background, which as you all know a background is not something I don't normally paint. The time spend was roughly 17 hours in the odd hour or two here and there over the past three of weeks, Many stops and starts due to organising prints and cards for events. Sheesh, I need to give up my full time job and do this full time one day! Pied Flycatchers from my photo taken on the edge of Exmoor. Watercolour with white acrylic on SAA paper approx. A4 and plenty of fun! http://www.devonartist.co.uk/
