Drawn with eraser.

An excellent result Denise. Just great. (I've seen other artists 'draw' this way...notably Peter Howson, the troubled Scottish artist. Never had the nerve to try it myself.)

Thanks Lewis, I'll look that artist up and take a look at his work.

I saw a BBC doc on him a few years back. He covered a huge canvass with red oil paint, wrapped a clean cloth around his hand and 'drew' with his finger. Astonishing. His work is harsh and brutal, not the sort of work I'd have on my wall, but I find his work compelling and we can't limit our appreciation to safe cosy subject matter.

How unique is that!!!

I’ve never actually tried drawing this way, but well done Denise, creative thinking!

Fabulous, a great technique.

Excellent stuff , you are always trying new thing and ways of doing things Denise and always succeed . You are inspirational and talented you show how with hard work and determination you came achieve a lot in short time . I do think your inquisitiveness and eagerness to try things out is what drives you to try things just keep at it as it’s great seeing the results.

Amazing technique Denise, and very effective. Good thinking outside the box!

The artist is new to me too, but this is art being about people as much as their work. Bravely done Denise.

Thanks very much David, Alan, Heather, Paul, Tessa and Jim, you should all have a try, I think it's far more easier than drawing the traditional way.

Very good Denise!

Good result Denise, something I have enjoyed doing. What sort of runner did you use ? A putty rubber gives a lovely softness also use your fingers.

Thanks Karen and Sylvia. Sylvia, I used, well I'll photograph it later and put it on the sketching forum. It's one I had that I picked up from the Range. It's not putty though. I normally use it for tidying up the edges of my pastel sketches.

I couldn't achieve anything like that putting charcoal on white paper, let alone using an eraser. Well done, Denise - terrific result.

Very characterful cow and a great technique Denise!

Beautifully achieved Denise. A very effective way to get such good results.

It’s worked really well Denise. I’ve seen it done on Facebook but never tried it.

What an unusual approach to achieve such a brilliant picture! Absolutely superb Denise.

Thanks very much Tony, Russell, Sarah, Carole, Christine and Spencer.

I've tried life drawing this way, good fun but very messy, I always end up covered in charcoal! Good work Denise.

Quick sketch I did last night, rubbed some charcoal into white paper, then did the drawing with an eraser.
