Gt Bowden Hall

Lovely Michael. I'm a fairly frequent visitor to Little Bowden, but haven't found this yet. Too long in the Cherry Tree?

Lovely Michael, one of your best? The trees and bushes on the left are particularly well painted. I would not have noticed but as you say, the foreground could be a little stronger.

Thanks Phillip - strangely enough I have never watered at the Cherry Tree. Gt Bowden Hall is on the road out of Gt Bowden in the Foxton direction and it's on the left immediately before the bridge over the canal.

Thanks Stephen - yes it could do with a bit of adjustment.

I'd leave the foreground as it is Michael. It's a nice green and you already have a good mix of tones in the trees, especially that one on the right which is a beauty!

A lovely painting Michael, I particularly like the way you have depicted the mullioned windows.

Very fresh and light. The dark trees show the pale building up very well.

A wonderful painting, Michael. And yes, I would add some more colour variation in the foreground or even maybe a shadow of some tree to add more depth?

I'm loathe to criticize one of your watercolours Michael but I agree about the foreground needing more tone, the rest is wonderful especially that sky.

Really splendid work, Michael. Agree that a dash of tone in the foreground would add to the painting, but the rest of it is spot on. Love the crisp and clear atmosphere and the bright palette.

Well, this jumped out at me. Lovely painting; the colours are nice and fresh. Yes, I also find phtographing very useful for finding out what needs to be fixed, not that much needs to be fixed in this one! I agree with your assessment, but not too much. The merest hint would do it.

Thanks again for your encouragement everyone - now handed over and client loved it so I must be doing something right.

Latest commission - always helpful looking at paintings on the screen - I can see that I need to add a bit of tone to the foreground grass.
