I think you have all the necessary to be a good watercolourist ,you have the ballance and the design ..all you need is to let yourself go .try some darks. while keeping your lights as they are .for contrast .,you will get more light with dark .but at present you are using very close tonal values .I dont often say this to anyone .but you have all the most important abilities ,for watercolouring .you can allways lift dark off again witha blotting pad take care alan

How nice to see one of your paintings on the gallery! I totally agree with Alan - screw up your courage and let rip with some dark, vibrant colours - not everywhere, but just pick you accents carefully. Mid-tones paintings are very attractive in their own right, but I feel that this scene could do with some more definition. You are on your way with this one....! Hope you are both well and looking forward to Christmas.

good to see you on gallery again, think I would do as Thea and Alan suggest - darks under boat perhaps and slightly more tone on boat to differentiate from background

Thank you Alan for your valid advice, i left this painting as it was for comments realising that it wasn't finished, you have adviced me what to do for which i thank you, i will attempt to finish it this week sometime while taking your advice......thank you again Max.

Thank you for your lovely comments much appreciated as usual.....i can always rely on you for a gee- up Thea....I am taking Alan & your advice on the painting & hope to improve on it. We hope you & the family have a good christmas.....Max & Betty

Thank you Nora for your very valid comments i will certainly take your advice especially the shadow under the boat......i was a bit worried about the sky in the background i will attempt to rectify this.....Max
