What a lovely little harbour scene. I do know you dont mind me making comments... may I ask why you see the world in such pale colours\??? If you look at anything through your eye lashes you can see shadows, light and tonal values. If maybe you loaded your brush with more colour your pictures would have more Ooomph This is a super little scene and well remembered . I just would have gone for more contrast. Max do tell me to shut up if you want to. S.

Sylvia i love your comments keep them coming, this was one of my earlier paintings i am trying to strengthen the colour in my paintings without making it muddy. I value your comments enormously.

This is a good painting, I'm not an expert in watercolour, in fact I started attending lessons and its the only medium I use during class. I have improved ever since but I need to loosen. Now to your painting, like Sylvia said correctly you need to darken the shaded parts. You can still adjust this painting. I have received many comments on this site and found it very useful.

I too am grateful for the comments i receive on this site. I only do water colour at the moment. This was one of my earlier paintings, By darkening the painting i am frightend of ruining the sunny effect

I have to agree with you, Max, that you have achieved lovely sunny colours in the painting. Possibly darkening areas would spoil that. I rather like paintings done all in the mid to light tone, just using patches of accent colour here and there, like the red of the boat and the strip of darker blue near the harbour wall. All your colours harmonise very well and give a very pleasing overall effect. It is not a bad thing to have a go at the odd bit of intense colour in strategic places, as it does add an air of excitment to a painting, but it is,of course, personal interpretation that counts in the end.

Thea i like you being my critic so open and honest too, i lived in Brixham for many years & this is how i remembere it. I too love the mid to light tones & this painting says it all. thank you again.......

Agree with above comments. A very sunny and cheerful scene and as a long-exiled Devonian myself, I can appreciate your painting.

Thank you for your comment's on my painting James!!! I lived in Brixham for many years & wanted to do a painting of it so that when we moved i had something to remember it by at it's best.
