Red Sails

Red Sails

Max - this is wonderful! I really like the way you have varied the red in the sails. Love the little bow wave. The mountain in the back looks like a tropical island making the painting very exotic. Well worth spending the month on it. It's a really engaging painting. Well done!

nice one .. i like the colours ,

Thank you Thea & Alan for your kind comments..........i was glad to finish this one.......but i was pleased with the result. The sails were a mixture of red with a touch of orange Thea, & the background was suppose to be St. Michaels Mount........this was painted from a photo in a calender we had in 2008.

Nice painting Max. Love the red sails. I would like to thank you very much for all your very kind comments on my paintings. Much appreciated.

We like what we see on your gallery & it inspires me no end, your comments are alway's most welcome & spurs me on.

hiya max.........i love your gallery....love the bright sails and the mountian...like the way you've done the sky

Thank you Ruthy for commenting on my red sails. Glad you like my gallery i try to vary it. Did you notice the crow just above the small red sail.

Well done Max that's the idea, I like the way that the strength of colour fades into the background. Have you ever seen any of Tony Cowlishaw's paintings?, he paints some dramatic seascapes. The colours in his water are unbelievable, he uses a fair amount of viridian and, believe me, it works in amongst the French Ultramarine / Cerulean Blue and patches of white paper for foam & spray. Tony paints the Thames Barges with their Red (Burnt Umber), sails. I'll try to find some for you. I agree with Thea, the bow wave is most effective and the sails are really billowing. Got your comment on the baby. There are a few and I've replied in the gallery, have a look.

Max I've been searching for your blog & can't find it. Where is it? Please....

I tried to give the effect of movement in this painting Maureen & hope that i have achieved it. Thank you for the information on Tony Cowlishaw's paintings i will certainly have a look, will get Betty the wife to try & find him on the internet for me. My blog is called "Learning The Hard Way"

I miss this one Max it may have taken a month but it is a beautiful work and well worth the month

I try to vary my paintings, & as i hadn't done one like this before thought i would give it a go, & was pleased with the result, even if it did take a month !!! Thank you Patsy.
