Love the soft, natural look of this Marjorie.

That's love. Marjorie :)

This looks lovely, how do water based oils work? Are they more like acrylics but with a slower drying time? You make them look lovely

This is really good - love the whole composition and colour palette

Lovely work Marjorie, I never get round to painting still life for some reason, but I love to see them. Just out of interest, what make of pochade box do you use? I’ve got several, one here and one in Spain, I’m looking out for the American make Open M pochard. Looks like I’m going to have to send for one direct and shell out $300. Like gold dust second hand.

It has a soft glow, Marjorie, one that adds a serenity and a certain timelessness to the painting. It really is lovely. I'm looking at those water based oils again and wonder if you're still a fan. Bri

Jennifer, Heather, Alan and Brian, thanks for the comments. Jen, wb oils are not like acrylics, they are just like trad oils except you can wash your brushes with water. You don't mix them with water to paint, just treat them like ordinary oils. The brand I use is Cobra ( Royal Talens ) and their considered to be artist quality, unlike some of the other brands. Brian, yes, I still like them. I use them more for "en plein air" , more convenient to take water rather than thinners etc. Alan, this pochade belonged to a fellow artist who, sadly, died late last year. He made it himself. All his art materials were passed on to fellow artists, a lovely thought that they continue to be used and we remember him.

Lovely work, Marjorie. And your indoor painting area looks delightful.

Beautiful result Marjorie.

Thanks Lewis. I don't often paint in the conservatory but this sits quite conveniently on my knee so I just took a short time to finish it off there.

Thanks Fiona, are you having a break?

Brilliant Marjorie style caught with perfection

Dennis, you are uber kind! ( if there is such a phrase )😁

Sort of Marjorie, the lack of time really, to paint or to view POL. Just come back from visiting your part of the country Marjorie and I can’t tell you how struck I am by the beauty of Northumberland. Bamburgh and Lindisfarne especially, have left me wanting to return and relive the experience. When we drove over the hill towards Bamburgh village and all the horizon is taken up by the castle....bloody hell......I’m sure I bruised my knees when my jaw dropped! I don’t think I took another breath until we pulled into the castle car park! Lol

Well Fiona, we must have been within spitting distance on a few occasions, what with me going up to your part of the world too ( which I like very much ). Sometimes, though, a little break is what we need. I'll be looking out for your postings.
