Bird of Paradise

I like that I can see bit's of the previous painting coming through. It's a beautiful painting.

Wonderful! Our bottlebrush plant did the same thing.

Thanks both, I'm trying to paint every day, it seems to make a difference, approach it like a job and it's easier to continue. I've been painting for years now and I'm still on a journey😊

Love the approach you’ve taken with this Marjorie. Not only leaving glimpses of the painting underneath but also the way you haven’t strictly ‘coloured in’ especially the leaves....if that makes sense. I like the textures that skimming the paint has left. I remember you mentioning a while ago about using a previous painting as a backing for new work, I’ve tried it myself and it has some good results.

Love this Marjorie.

Super painting Marjorie.

I like the feel Marjorie. Nice touches of light going through the plant.

Thanks very much Diane, George and Val-Irene.

Well this is delightful Marjorie! I’m no flower painter but I do appreciate quality... I also paint every day, early morning generally and I love my time in the studio!

Thanks Alan, I'm having a good time at the moment.

Beautiful plant, and I really like the touches of colour coming through from the previous painting. Wish I could recycle my canvases that satisfactorily.

Lovely Marjorie, like the way the underpainting works too

Another great painting Marjorie

Really difficult flowers to paint as they are so beautiful in their perfection. Love the way you have pared down their complexities and produced such an appealing, gentle rendition of the flowers and the richness and velvety look of the leaves you have achieved. Gorgeous Marjorie.

It’s beautiful, Marjorie. I love the glimpses of the under painting.

Many thanks, Sandra, Heather, Russell, Carole and Ellen. Ellen, I've just added my rather "eccentric to some" explanation on the forum.😆

Very good and the leaves are excellent.

Thank you Richard and Romila.

Lovely work Marjorie!

Thanks Jennifer , I enjoy Still Life, it's the most relaxing for me. Not to be said for today's effort.

My Bird of Paradise was brought indoors for the winter and produced 8 flowers. I re-used an old canvas and left vestiges of the previous painting ( pink cyclamen) and added touches of pink here and there. Oil on canvas, 20"x20"
