Thank you Pat. My daughter provided some aerial view type photographs for me to use as my reference. Where on earth were you when you took these I asked, in a helicopter? Apparently she was at a 'roof top' party!

Thank you Thea, Carole and Dennis. I roughly indicated the building shapes with masking fluid Thea followed by a wash of mostly naples yellow and then loosely painted the buildings which are surprisingly recognisable!

Thank you Debs and Marjorie. Very kind of you. I don't usually spend too much time on a painting Marjorie. A whole day is pushing it. It's easy to loose any of that elusive spontaneity. I had a few breaks..

Only brilliant, that's all ....... and the work in this is astonishing: this was no ten minute project! But effort aside, it works well at conveying the teeming life and variety of the city. Opinions will differ of course, but personally, I much prefer this approach to the more photographic and exact rendition - you can admire the competence and skill of highly realistic paintings, but the artistry is often missing which is so very present here.

Wow Louise, this is extraordinary! So wonderfully loose but at the same time disciplined. I love it!!
