Abstract Still Life

I was just about to sign off and this caught my eye Louise. Response successfully completed...it's a very striking still life in colour, shape and composition! Really like it.

Thanks Fiona. It's a bit more of a semi abstract though isn't it? They're obviously bottles I think which for me, isn't a true abstract. I tried another mad, splashy one and just got in a terrible mess..not easy. LOL

I would say semi-abstract, Louise, the shining bottles are amazing.

Thanks Cesare. Perhaps is best just to try and empty your mind somehow when trying a proper abstract. The problem was that I kept thinking of the words 'still life' in my head and had actually placed shampoo bottles in front of me. That resulted in me actually drawing the bottle shapes when I was trying for a true abstract where the subject wouldn't really be recognisable. That's my theory and excuse anyway. I'd love to see some more abstracts here. They're quite a challenge and probably a complete change for many..me anyway :)

Light, beautiful, airy, FANTASTIC ! I would happily have it on my wall and stare at it forever. The combination of thick and thin lines is perfect and the colours are just right. Well done Louise!!!

That's kind of you Satu and Jennifer. It's not so good in real life Satu, smooth 150 g/m sketch book paper used so nice and wrinkly now. Didn't want to use decent paper as it was just an experiment. I am trying a larger one on proper heavy weight paper but have reached that scared to paint more stage so have turned it to the wall until inspiration strikes and I feel braver. That's the joy of a sketch book, it doesn't matter too much whether it works or not. LOL

Also Jennifer, give it a try and Ivan, I did indeed try ..LOL
