Super work once again Louise, has a bit of a continental feel to this, not easy to achieve with Manchester. Mind you it has got a bit more colourful than when I used to get off the 98 bus with my mother on shopping trips in the 1960's! It really was impressive to a boy, to see the big city and the enormous (to me) stores, Afleck and Brown's, Pauldens, Lewis's etc. Oldham Street was the centre of things then was'nt it? Then came 'The Arndale!

Lots going on in this one Louise, love the rainbow colours of the wet street!

Lovely dark but bright colours in this wonderful watercolour Louise! Did you draw it upside down or normally? It's great!!

Thank you Dennis, Stephen, Debs and Satu. Very kind of you! Upside down Satu, this one took me all day, the right way up which was much more difficult..LOL. Memories Stephen! None of those stores are there now but I remember Lewis's well. It was my favourite place and I remember seeing a real Dalek (Dr Who) in the toy dept on the top floor!

Nice to see your street scenes back Louise. Cafe culture in Manchester too, I don't remember that from my youth!

Great colours and you are so good at figures Louise.

This is vibrant, interesting and bold. There is a wonderful sense of areas of light complimented by your signature darks (that you don't shy away from using, as I do!). It is a very accomplished painting and I could see this doing very well in a gallery or competition as it displays a huge air of confidence in the way it has been painted. I see you drew this in your normal way, as oppose to a one liner or UDOL. I wonder how it would differ if you tried it again using those methods? An interesting thing to find out I would have thought.

Ah! Stevenson Square, the home of Fred Aldous, the art and craft shop. Your painting is nice and colourful with lots to look at.

Really like this one Louise.

Thanks Christine, Fiona, Thea, Megan and Carole. I really appreciate your comments as this one took some time and I took quite a few risks, changing the colours especially the sky which at one point I actually washed off! First it was pale blue, then too dark and eventually somewhere in between. I kept having to walk away..

Also Megan, it's nice that you know the place. Fred Aldous is on the opposite side of the square.

Lovely to see your cityscapes again, Louise! Love the urban feel of the piece and the super composition and palette.

ps. I like the darker skies as I said before because they show up those striking colours.

Thank you Seok and Carole.

Wow! I love it.

Many thanks Gudrun and Shirley for your kind words!

Great lively painting ,definate sense of place-particularly like the tables in the foreground.
