I almost missed this Lionel! A great little image of a wild looking landscape, it looks like rushing water coming out of the hills....a bit true to life here at the minute.....did you do it with a painting knife, it has lots of texture. The frame sets it off beautifully.

Hi Fiona, and thank you so much for your comments. I thought for a while that this one had been given the thumbs down silent treatment! The real problem is the sheer volume of excellent work being posted. The volume quickly pushes your work back down the pages, and the excellence is such that I cannot comment on all that I would like to endorse. Yes, all done by knife. I buy canvas board by the size of the readily available photo frames that are inexpensive. 10X12 inch is my favourite size but the one above is about 7X5 inch board. Thank you also for your very useful comments on the cottage watercolour. Alan has also commented and I intend to attempt an improvement before starting anything new. I'm looking out for your next one!

Hi Lionel, I hope you will either add to the cottage painting or try it again. It has lots of potential and I'm sure with a bit of fiddling you will be much more satisfied with the result. Do you feel more comfortable with the smaller size boards to work on with regard to composition? I'm stretching myself at the moment working larger than normal and I'm finding it difficult to fill all that space. I'm doing quarter imperial size at the moment, apart from any pen & wash studies I do. I have a couple on the go at the moment and will post when either are finished. I'm messing about with the pen & wash in this months Leisure painter, it's a windmill, my scale is totally off as usual because I can't draw for toffee but does it matter, I've enjoyed doing it and I'm sure someone will mention my rubbish drawing but they would be right to criticise. I'm looking forward to sharing your experience with watercolour Lionel....it makes me swear all the time but I do like watercolour. See you for now & best wishes to you and your wife.XXX

This looks lovely and especially in the frame you have chosen which is perfect for it. It is impressionistic and all the better for it to describe this wild and free scene.

Lovely work, Lionel. The textures are excellent, and the frame sets off the painting beautifully.

A little abstract-impressionist landscape in acrylics on canvas board. The overall size of the frame is 9 X 7 inches and the size of the picture inside the mount is 4.5 X 3 inches.
