people are all sorts of shape, so I suppose these two could be a basketball player and a sumo wrestler! I recognise the Wesson painting you have based it on so it can't be so bad Lionel!

Hehe lovely comment from Stephen there Lionel, this is a lovely pen sketch, such lovely little details

This drawing has real presence and I like it a lot. It is confidently drawn (not easy when you go straight in with pen) and is solid and believable. You wouldn't think the people were too fat or too big if you had been with me when I went to Ikea the other day. What is happening to the population of Britain - they need to be taken out of the Gro-Bag!!

I'm a real lover of line work so this really appeals - great use of pen and so confidently drawn

I like good drawings Lionel, and this is good!. Figures look ok to me, they must be closer to the eye than buildings. Good contrasting tones.

Thank you all so very much for your lovely and lively comments; basketball player, sumo wrestler, people in Gro-Bags and visits to Ikea! (A parcel from Ikea turned up at my house - didn't know what to make of it! = Tim Vine. sorry). I've ordered some tubes of watercolours and some rough paper from the SAA. Forgot to order brushes. I'll have to make do with what I've got until I find out how I get on. Expensive aren't they? Now I know why people use bits of twigs and sharpened clothes pegs!

There's nothing wrong with this drawing Lionel, it's confident, accurate and great shading. As far as the figures go, they look the right size to me......it could be winter and they have lots of layers on!! I'm looking forward to seeing your pen, matchstick, clothes peg & wash paintings Lionel, now you have the ingredients, as it were.

Not "just" a sketch, Lionel. It's a very good one. It's really beautifully done, with excellent marks, lines and tones. Well done!

Thank you Fiona and Seok. You're very kind! My camera has gone on the blink, so I'll have to stick with the pen and ink for a while because I can cut the paper to size for scanning.

OK, OK, it's just a sketch! Pen directly on to paper so once the mark is made there is no going back. Lot's wrong, (again), but the worst is the size of the two figures - too big, too fat. The harbour pic was copied from the cover of an Ed Wesson book, but I have tried to use the shadows to make it look Ed Hopper-ish.
