I like it Lionel! Great sky. (I STILL haven't found way past the block!)

Gloriously sky Lionel, with a lovely landscape underneath it

Your work has come on enormously since you started posting here - this is really impressive, well composed, good sense of colour, excellent sky... take a look, if you haven't, at your very earliest work, and compare it with this: huge progress.

Such a serene painting!

I agree with Robert''s comments, you have come a long way on you artistic journey in a short time. This is a lovely landscape, good sky and nice variety in the various greens you have painted.

Good colour Lionel and I do like that slightly greeny tinge in the sky.

Must look up JA - do like this - all that Robert says and lovely mellow palette.

I think this is very calming and serene with beautiful warm colours. Love those greens Lionel.

What a start Lionel, so glad you didn't put you paints back in the garage. I think the sky is wonderful, that lovely warm touch of yellow/orange which runs from the foreground into the trees and up to the sky links the whole painting together. I'm envious of your greens too.

Thank you all so very much for your lovely comments. I know we all say it but they are really very encouraging and very much appreciated. Robert and Stephen; no, it had not occurred to me to look at my earlier postings but now that I have I know exactly what you mean and thank you for pointing it out. - I am most grateful for your observations and your views on my progress. Michael: the artist I referred to is Jimmy Longacre, so it is JL, (not JA). Fiona: glad to see you are still here and still posting - love your latest one. Again, many thanks everyone!

Wow! This has such a calming feel about it I could just sit and look at it for ages. Lovely palette and composition.

Had a Look at JL's site, lovely work, thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much, Val! Glad you liked it. Pleased you like the work of JL, Stephen. It leaves me wondering why I bother!!

Nothing wrong that I can see, Lionel. I love this - the palette is beautifully subtle and the tonal work and brushwork are both super. It's excellent!

Thank you Seok. Much appreciated.

I know there's a lot wrong with this, and the I think the camera flash has flattened out any reflections that were on the water. Never mind, At least it's a new start for me. Pictured inspired by, but bears no resemblance to, the work of Jimmy Longacre. Google him - fantastic work.
