A painting after my own heart - super use of greens - love it

Very nice, Lionel, defies the rule of not having the focal point in the centre but it works!

Lovely warm painting Lionel. Those long shadows really capture the feel of the end of a warm summer's day. I'm not good at shadows so I can't really advise (I tend to just leave them out all together :) ) . I can see that the long one isn't quite right but nevertheless, you've captured the atmosphere and as I said, it's lovely! I'd like to see it when you've altered it as I know that you will!

A really superb piece - the atmosphere, light and colors are all so very beautiful.

In my opinion, Lionel, the whole scenery is ok and perfectly painted, except for the colour of the shadow across the track (to much green?). Didn't the impressionists use the complementary colour for the shadow? Anyway, it is a beautiful landscape. I like it!

It's a super painting Lionel, love the lead in, love your greens.

The shadow needs to be, as Mia says, less green, and more dark (mix a bit of red into green on the palette, and see if that works) - at the moment you have a dark line to the left of the main tree, which looks as though it might be a shadow, which is a bit distracting because it's stronger than the shadow line across the path. You've got on top of all those greens, though: I like the distant trees, and that line of bright, sunlit green on the right.

Thank you all so very much for your kind comments and for taking the time to help me with this one. Somehow, it shows you care about the progress of other would-be artists. I said above that I would try to correct the shadow ... and then I seemed to lose all interest in it. It was strangely depressing. Anyway, you have each helped me a lot and I will have another go at it. Thank you!

Box canvas, 10 by 12 inches. I can now see that the shadow across the track is not right. I'll try to correct it, (being acrylics), but I will not post it again. As said before, I want to move towards impressionism. I don't think this is it but I do think I am on the right track, (no pun intended).
