This is beautifully done , great sense of depth.

It's amazing Liezel.

This is excellent, and beautifully painted.

Love the contrast of misty background and strong foreground.

excellent autumn feel.

This is really lovely, Liezel.

A stunner, really admire your work

Beautiful painting, great detail and I really like the misty background

Beautifully painted and the soft focus really adds atmosphere.

Thanks so much Hilary, Diane, Paul, Val-Irene, Kwok Wai, Heather, Hilary and Carole. Im glad the misty background worked out. I wanted to create depth and also the sense of more wheat in the distance, without marking each and every stem. Thanks all for taking a look and commenting.

Amazing

Excellent detail and tone control. Wonderful picture.

Exceptional work Liezel.

Amazing detail, and delicately painting.

Thanks so much Caroline, Ceri, Fiona, Romila and Tessa for taking a look and your lovely comments.

Wonderful painting, Liezel.

This is really very very good. Your work is amazing. And I see you v much into birds whilst I love wild cats. About to do a clouded leopard. You said about hot pressed paper (my favourite). Treat as other watercolour paper but when finished work is completely dry, I wet the back, place face down between two pieces of card (I use mountboard) and weigh down with some heavy books. Leave for a day or two ....after which should be perfectly flat and ready to frame.. Hope this makes it less difficultto use!!!

With the cooler weather out there I wanted to paint something autumnal and warming. We passed this wheat field a few years ago and I walked into it and crouched down to take a pic up one of the paths between all the stalks. I came across it recently and decided to give it a go in watercolours. Lots of masking again... Phew!
