Great, the rust on the enamel jug is spot on.So are the brushes well painted.

A lovely painting Liezel, the jug is especially good. I’ve tried painting brushes like this without much success! You’ve done it really well, no problem!

Tessa, thanks so much for your lovely comment. I started the brushes with a light wash first, being careful of the white areas to suggest the metallic surface. Then added darker washes of the same colours for the shadows, building up the form. Paynes Grey worked well for the metallic top part of the brush. I hope you give them a go again!

Recently I had the honour of visiting the home and studio of a late painter. Being among his brushes, tools and other painting implements left in his studio, I felt inspired to paint this watercolour still life in tribute to his skill and contribution to art.
