Titfers

Comments

I do like a titfer and this is a grand collection with suitable characters

Love em Lew. No one calls them titters any more..

Even TitFers

A wonderful collection Lew.

Wonderful hats, wonderful characters!

Six excellent titfirs and characters Lew, demonstrating you superb skill.

Well that’s a word I haven’t heard in a while- each character really suits his style of titfer!

Another great bunch. The Scotsman does remind me of somebody I know, though he isn't Scottish. And as for that irascible rogue, bottom left, he looks familiar too!

Great characters and a great collection of hats, well done.

The characters beat even the great hats Lew. Love the arty painter's "happy" expression. (-:

Your Frenchman in the beret has a strong look of the late Terence Conran - who could look VERY French when he adopted a quizzical expression. Your Scotsman made me snort into my tea.

Of course my favourite has to be the tartan bunnet……Tammie.

Exquisite collection . Love the cowboy.

Thanks to everybody for having a look and your great comments.

Fantastic array of hats and characters Lewis

Smashing Lewis.

Just to 'cap it all', you've produced another fine illustration. Very good as usual, Lewis!

Brilliant Lewis! A great bunch of characters. My grandad always used to call hats ‘titfers’. It takes me right back.

What a lovely bunch!

Bottom left, definitely a Les Dawson look. The tam o’shanter - I’ve got one myself!

They are great hats and lovely drawings 😊

I never knew the meaning of titfer, alway informative plus splendid artwork.

I drew the cowboy using a dip pen, added shading with a black soluble coloured pencil then lay thin watercolour washes on top. I did a few more with the same method. They all had hats. So I thought I'd compile a small group with hats. I've drawn so many flat caps I decided to include an old pic done ten years or more ago...this is dip pen and watercolour. It looks a little different, but not too much. The six drawings grouped with text added in photoshop.

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
