Your usual high quality Lewis. That polychromous black pencil is interesting.

All four are excellent Lew , I do like particularly like the first one. Must look into those pencils they sound good.

Super drawings Lewis and good to know about the pencils.

A lovely group of drawings Lewis.

A superb set of drawings Lewis

Always wonderful characters and drawing skills

Another group of imaginative characters Lewis always so good.

Thanks everybody, for your kind comments. Appreciated.

You're the master at this sort of work Lewis.

Number One is my man, Shades of times past Lew. (-:

Superbly drawn characters Lewis, I like the effect of the coloured washes on the bottom right. I've added some coloured pencil to a failed charcoal drawing I was attempting, just experimenting really but I quite liked the effect.

Great selection of interesting characters Lewis with very effectively used mediums.

Love the chap in the top left. That one is my favourite.

Lovely drawings Lew. FYI:- Lightfast pencils do it get picked up with washes either.

Lewis , having produced an item that would be accepted as a finished article - how do you get the enthuisiasm to repeat it. I find that I will re approach a subject - but it takes a year or so before I find the interest in doing so. I admire your ability to produce these figures with such lifelike facial expressions - as I said before - you must observe your fellow traveller most keenly

Thanks again to everybody for having a look and commenting. Mike, I get what you say. The idea of doing a colour sketch before making the final picture makes sense, but I don't always do it. Like you, it's often some time before I get around to making such an image from my sketches.

Another very good quartet Lewis and so well drawings usual.. The polychromous pencil does look interesting.

Sketches from various sketchbooks. The bits in the top right pic are not related, just random pics. Top left, sketch for possible painting. The drawing bottom left was done with a polychromous black pencil. I've found this takes a watercolour wash with hardly any pick up from the pencil, which normally can make it look grubby.

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
