Looking really good so far Lewis. The scene with the bomber over London is terrific!

Thanks very much for your comments.

Such a good idea and brilliant illustrations Lewis. I agree with Tessa, that powerful opening scene is something special, emotional, sad and so well painted.

I can relate to all this Lew, and you're doing a great job of illustrating it. Lovely work about a horrible time.

Fings ain't wot they used ta be - thankfully,

Like Jim , I can relate. Leicester was fortunate , in the main , but I can still recall the bombs and land mine falling. Coventry was the target apparently but Leicester copped a few "by mistake". We had gone to the Victoria park shelters - but they were full so we went home and that was the night a landmine took out the pavilion on that park.

This is so interesting, compelling and beautifully done Lewis.

Brilliant Lew...this should be a forum challenge...not a whole life but a snippet. Love it

I think this is a fantastic idea, Lewis. It’s something to keep and pass on. It’s looking really good so far and everything is beautifully done.

Thanks again the everyone who has commented. It's great to receive such feedback. I guess a lot of us have had families who went through all this.

Following this with interest Lewis.

This is looking good, Lewis, that top illustration is terrific.

Brilliant Lewis, these are really superb drawings. I was born just after the war but remember all the bomb sites in London and my parent's stories of the underground shelters. So much detail in your work!

Sad but beautifully done Lew. We had many relatives in Coventry at that time.

Wow Lewis, this is looking amazing!

Thanks again for your wonderful feedback. Yes Thalia, once you get onto this subject people start remembering. I was drawing one of these panels at my art group, some there, around my age, were coming up with anecdotes.

Beautifully done, Lewis.

Part of my planned graphic novel (or comic if you prefer). Pictures made with watercolor and pen...compiled in photoshop. A4 size. The story is told from a 7 year olds point of view.

About the Artist
Lewis Cooper

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
