Ha. Superb irony. Great characters as usual

What a wonderful group of miserable characters Lewis. I guess we all have these moments.😁

I’ve seen a few of them around! Love the lady especially, I’m sure she could tell a few stories.

Excellent work Lew, seen a few scenes like this in my time.

Oh dear how depressing. No wonder with a barmaid like that!

You've captured it perfectly ... too many happy hours for these folks methinks!

Lots of detail, it's an excellent drawing Lewis.

Some of us is 'appy bein' miserable. Love the landlord, very dapper.

Great characters, great expressions, cheered me up 😊

What a happy bunch for happy hour!!

Excellent Lewis , a really good group of characters

Thats great Lewis and perhaps appropiate considering whats going on around us at present.

Very good, cheered me up, got a cold!

Thanks for your comments, always valued. This happy hour thing has always intrigued me. Are they not happy the rest of the time, and are they paying too much? I wouldn't know, it's years since I've been in a pub.

Great fun Lewis. High inflation has obviously affected the ‘Happy Hour’ prices too!

Absolutely brilliant Lewis, so much to admire in this illustration. Your drawing skills are sublime.

Oh dear, they do look glum. Hope the transference worked Lewis and you feel much better.

I think you’ve succeeded admirably! A great sketch.

Amazing characters, Lewis - glad you transferred your mood to them as it's made me smile! And how scary is that barmaid!!

But did it work? It's a brilliant piece of drawing! Hopefully you're not grumpy now!!

Looks like they are all thinking "Ba Humbug, it's that time of year again". Wonderful expressions Lewis.

Love this really good artwork and so funny Lewis

The expressions are priceless and the scene tells its own story. Excellent work, Lewis!

Awesome work 👏

Depression and irony go side by side and with a barmaid that has an attitude like that I’m surprised there was anyone wanting to be in the pub!

I’m starting appreciate your talent and skill to draw like this even more lately, as I’ve tried recently draw some characters (the birds, cat, rat too, but I failed the latter, I wasn’t happy at all). I have the app that lets me enjoy creating animation, therefore I’m more into character drawing - the field I have no idea about. Is there anything Lewis that you could think of, to let me practice character drawing please? Maybe I can not improve it much, but my animation would be so much more enjoyable if I could have draw any animated character a bit more likeable, if you know I mean… Art. 😉👍

Well Pog, that's a big ask. I've made many animated films, some with drawings, some with plasticene, and some digital. I've always drawn cartoon style stuff since I was a kid, so I've been doing it for over 70 years now, and still hoping to get the hang of it. I recall that one of the first books I had was by Preston Blair, a top-notch animator who worked for all the big companies. He's dead now but his books are still in print and relevant whether you're filming with a camera or using a digital app. I see there's one of his books on design and animation on Amazon for about £6. That would be a good start. And I'm sure there are many others, and, of course, there's always stuff on the internet. As I'm sure you'll expect, there's no quick fix for this. Good luck.

Lewicious. Fantastic stuff Lew. Love the Pina Colada..(-:

Not sure about this, I suppose I drew it because I was feeling grumpy and hoped to shift that feeling to the paper. Dip pen and Payne's grey soluble pencil. Compiled in photoshop.
