Always a know it all somewhere. Fab Lew.

Lol done so well and fun to see 👀 🙂

Sadly I'm old enough to remember it....great stuff Lew.

Super and very true at the moment ... they dig a hole then fill it and then someone else comes along and digs it up again . And don't get me started on pot holes ...!

Just love this one, Lewis!

I remember it well. Great depiction of the song

Excellent artwork Lew, I too remembered the song. More holes than a sieve on the local roads not to mention the water leaks making more.

I’ll be singing that song all day now….thanks. But it did make an impression….it’s made me wonder…why are potholes called potholes?

Smashing Lewis.

Yes there I was! Brilliant take on that old song Lewis. And we have probably all met these wonderful characters somewhere in the past.

pothole (n.) 1826, originally a geological feature in glaciers and gravel beds, from Middle English pot "a deep hole for a mine, or from peat-digging" (late 14c.), now generally obsolete, but preserved in Scotland and northern England dialect… Applied to a hole in a road from 1909.

"And beneath it lies the bloke in the bowler hat... and that's that." Well I remember it and so well illustrated Lew.

Wonderful Quips as always and such great expressions, each one telling a story Lewis.

Bernard Cribbins would be proud!

In the parlance of the day......I dig it.

Love it and so true Lew!

Great depiction of that song Lewis. Remember it well. Would love to see some more drawings of songs like that.

I'm glad some of you remember the song, although you don't need to be as ancient as me, it pops up on the radio now and then. They did another similar song called 'Right said Fred', I think. Thanks for your great comments, and Peter's explanation of a 'pot-hole.'

Don’t remember the song, but great illustration, love the robin.

Superb Lew, remember it Well. 🙂

Superb as always Lewis, sad to say I remember it as well, great song (they don't write them like that any more)

Good one Lewis, I too remember the song well, how time flies!

Remember it well. Great depiction. "Right Said Fred" was great too.

Spot on. I can practically hear the guy in the ground saying "yer what?"

😂😂😂😂I remember it….just…..very funny.

Brilliant drawing Lewis

I remember that song. Excellent Lewis.

A brilliant illustration as I sit singing the rest of the song in my head. 🎶

We were talking about songs we grew up with, I recalled this...'The hole in the ground.' Lyrics by Myles Rudge, music by Ted Dicks, sung by Bernard Cribbins, it came out in the early 1960s. A great comedy song...the title to this pic is one verse from the song. It's about class, and pompous officialdom wearing bowlers. Mixed media, A3 sketchbook.
