Perfect Uriah, Lewis.

Great style, he looks proper sinister. I can't wait to see which characters you chose, Dickens created so many.

SUPER Lewis, Shame it looks a bit on the small side though on my screen. But I can enlarge it,a bit blurred though. Anyway HEEP good piece of work.

Proper sinister looking with those eyes and nose. I wonder who is next?

Ever so humble Lew. Great start, perfect in fact..(-:

hopefully , Scrooge - before and after. Still my favourite

Thanks for your comments, this one will be in my final group. I've also done Fagin (again) and Sairy Gamp, but I'm not happy with them, and may do them again. Sorry it's blurred on your screen, John, it looks OK on mine. I scan these little 6 x 4 pics at 'actual size', but I've noticed they come out about 4 times that size on POL and look awful. So, for these, I reduce the DPI to 50 (a bit low res) and they are spot on (size-wise), perhaps I should have sharpened it...but I don't usually do that...I don't like to fiddle with them.

It's a great skill working from imagination and your good at it. Nice painting

Fine work. Lewis, can you do Smallweed? Would love to see your take on him! Shake him up, Lewis!

Love these little pics Lewis, looking forward to seeing the final group!

Thanks Dennis, Timothy and Jenny. These little pics don't take long, but I don't know when I'll finish the group. I have two frames that take eight 6 x 4 inch pics (I was only going to use ONE for the Dickens idea)...the trouble is I'm spoilt for choice in characters...I may end up doing both frames. That's sixteen pics, probably more because I've already done two that aren't right. It's lucky I like doing them, or I'd never get it finished.

He looks charming but wicked. Your drawings always cheer me up Lewis!

So very very good, Lewis. Just as I imagine him!

He has always been my favourite Dickensian villain. You have done him just as imagine him. Oily and umble.

I'm hoping to see Bill Sykes in there as he's the baddest of the bad....Robert Newton and Oliver Reed have both been brilliant film versions.

You have so many characters to choose from to portray. I like some of the minor characters, Mrs Gamp for example.

Incredibly clever work Lew, I love this character immensely.

This is great Lewis. So much character and he sits well in that format.

I know severa people like this...he’s brilliant Lew ..

Love it :)

Great idea for a series, Lewis. Uriah looks like the cadaverous, grasping, insincere GIT that Dickens presented all those years ago. I wouldn't trust this guy with my sweat, never mind my wallet, no matter how 'umble he claimed to be. Great characterization and caricature. Brian

What a characterisation, looks a wicked chap indeed.

I like your cheeky looking characters Lewis!

Part of my Dickens group picture. 6 x 4 inch. Watercolour. I started this project a couple of days ago, and have done four pics in total. But I'm having the usual doubts. My Charles Dickens pic was a copy of a photo but I want the other 7 pics in the group to be from my imagination (as they were from his). I suspect I'll do far more than seven before I settle on which to go with.

About the Artist
Lewis Cooper

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
