Lovely Kim, another emotionally loaded portrait. Particularly like the way you define the eyes (gateway to the soul?) in an otherwise loose rendition, portraying a lively, joyous and open character.

Great one Kim, what a lovely tribute to her, your skills at capturing facial details perfectly on full show here

Lovely tribute and a beautiful painting with a warmer palette.

A beautiful portrait giving us a fleeting appearance of a lovely lady. Perfect in watercolour.......!

Wonderful portrait Kim of kind lady with a slightly mischievous look about her! Apart from her well painted features, I like the way that you've split the purple background in half and reflected the darker colour on her left shoulder. It's lovely, obviously painted with affection.

Cover the smiling mouth up and the eyes are smiling too - very difficult to do in a portrait. Such a lovely painting of your mother, who looks to have been a lady of humour and character. I sense an ethereal and hazy quality to the painting, perhaps done subconsciously as an emotional response to her not being with you now. Deeply sensitive work and it packs an emotional punch.

Beautifully done, and what a wonderful tribute Kim. She looks like a lovely lady. And so obviously painted with great affection.

My thanks to you all. I've steered clear of painting my parents for many years now. Not that they're not worthy subjects, just that I can't seem to mobilise the emotional detachment necessary to make them 'accessible' to me. So this is a tentative first, and I'm glad you like it. Your comments and observations are spot on and penetrating as always.

Beautiful lady expertly painted Kim.

Beautiful portrait of your mum Kim.

Kim I am currently bursting with pride & delight as someone has compared a painting of mine with your wonderfully inspired paintings - my work is of course no where near as talented as yours (fact) but even so I am feeling very pleased !

I sketched my Mum the other day on what would have been her 83rd birthday - an occasion she could so easily still have been here to celebrate. She painted in oils and often tried to persuade her watercolouring son that his future lay there. In vain!
