An image that came to me in a dream last night. She said she was a witch and told me that she sells spells, dispenses curses, cures warts and tells fortunes and she asked me if I needed her services. ‘No thanks’, I replied, ‘I do all those things myself too; would you like me to fix your big eye?’. As soon as I awoke I went into a state of automatic surrealism and painted this image in Watercolour.

I was born in 1946. In the 1960s and part of the 70s I was an airman in the Royal Navy, Fleet Air Arm. I joined Durham Constabulary in 1971. In 1999 I retired from policing and began teaching sociology and criminology at Durham University with emphasis on policing and researching crime. I am drawn…
