Lunch Time on the Broye

Soft Pastel on Cansons "M-Touch" card, 24 x 30 cm. Shows the quay on the Broye Canal which connects Lake Murten with Lake Neuenburg in N. Switzerland. The steamer docks here and discharges hungry passengers going to the nearby hotel for lunch. Painted on-site around lunch time, passsengers having departed a half hour before to get a place. Difficult to paint reflections when a big boat is churning up the water so I chose this peaceful moment on a beautiful early Autumn day. Blocked in with an alcohol underpaining and then applied layers of very soft pastels to create an impressionistic effect. Signed on the back AKD.
