Wonderful sky. Love the dark foreground shadow. This definitely a Walker. Love it.

A beautiful landscape

Thank you both for the comments. Almost finished this one. It has been framed (Just to see what it looked like, as I used an on-line framing service.. A good job, but a little more than I would want to pay again! I'll post another pic as soon as it's done. Regards John

Another really lovely landscape John. Also thank you for describing the colours and process that you used. You mentioned that you were going to add a few more branches but i think it looks superb just as it is.

I have just realised that the picture was never 'oiled-out'. That would improve the overall finish, by pulling the drier parts together.

My take on one of Seago's favourite subjects. Purely for my own edification. Painted in Oil, it is on 6mm thick MDF and is 20" x 16" (50cm x 40 cm) Limited palette: Titanium White, Naples yellow, Chrome Yellow, Burnt Sienna, Raw Umber, Ultramarine and Winsor Green. The base coat is an Acrylic gesso with a creamy mix of 'whiting' added, then tinted to a pink with Acrylic Alizarin . The whiting affords an absorbent surface which facilitates quicker over-painting and is good for Alla Prima. There is a little more work needed on the foliage and I shall be adding a few more small limbs and twiggy branches to the trees..
