Always like your style, fantastic greens and use of colour and line

Well it’s such an appealing scene that it’s worth developing Jenny! Nicely painted as always.

Lovely style Jenny.

Many thanks, Heather, Alan and Denise!

Love this Jenny, those greens are very good. I think the versatility is more to do with the artist!

That’s lovely Jenny, really like the apatite green.

Love this Jenny alway good!

Thanks very much, Katy, Carole and Linda!

Really like your style Jenny ! Super greens.

These are lovely greens Jenny, they look so well together. Love the foreground leaves especially.

Many thanks, Richard and Fiona! The foreground leaves were inspired by the clumps of dock leaves I see on the river bank (although obviously not that colour!).

So sculptural and appealing Jenny.

Thanks, Carole!

Very distictive! Cleverly done, Jenny!

Many thanks, Peter!

A study in greens made special by the hues of the viaduct. It’s a scene worth painting but you have to have an artist’s eye to see it and develop what’s there into a fuller composition. You seem to have the knack of bringing it off Jenny.

Frank, thank you so much for your very kind comment, it’s really appreciated. Green is a difficult colour, but these two greens work so well together - and one of the benefits of watercolour is that you can usually quite easily lift out or strengthen colours until they seem balanced. Never comes right straight away!

Noted. I agree with you 100% Jenny. Watercolour is sometimes thought of as an easy option but in reality it’s one of the most difficult mediums to master and you can never say you’ve got the hang of it.

This would make a good linoprint Jenny, though the water might prove a challenge.

Thanks, Frank! I have thought about doing a linocut of it but, as you say, getting the water right could be tricky. I will have to give it some more thought! (I’m sure you’d make a better job of it than me - I tend to go for straight black and white images, and this would definitely need some tonal contrast.)

Another take on a favourite local scene - still trying to find different ways to paint it! Before starting I read an article by an artist who said she sometimes added gold to colours for extra warmth and shimmer - thought I’d try it with this, seemed fine at first, but by the time I’d finished it looked rather dull, so lifted most of it out. Have used just two (Daniel Smith) greens - Green Gold and Green Apatite Genuine, both are quite versatile colours.
