Belted Galloway on the Heath

Comments

So is the Lino cut , sorry about the typo.

That was quick, Paul, it’s only just finished uploading - taking ages again. I knew what you meant!!

Love this Jenny. Really catches the eye.

So clear and clean. Lovely image Jenny

Admire your sense of design Jenny, really good

It's interesting (the linocut), I've never tried it ;)

I applaud your skill with these Jenny, another excellent piece of work.

I knew this was yours Jenny before I saw your name! Lovely style as ever, a striking image and clever idea with the BG and it’s black and white coat.

This is super, Jenny. Well done.

Well done Jenny, like it, very nice indeed.

Beautifully effective Jenny.

Thank you so much for all the positive comments, they are really appreciated! I’d spent so much time looking at this I wasn’t sure how successful it had turned out - the worst bit was the endless printing runs to weed out all the stray specks. I know some people don’t bother about these and accept them as part of the charm of a linocut, but they drive me nuts!

Excellent work, well done . Just before the first lockdown I booked to go on a printing course, but COVID put paid to that. I must try again this year.

Thanks, Andrew. If you do later decide to do linocuts at home, make sure you buy the best tools, it makes all the difference! I use the Swiss-made Pfeil cutters and Japanese vinyl, and have a soft roller for printing. There are one or two excellent websites on linocutting.

I love the addition of the Beltie Jenny, he is so at home in his surroundings. Your prints are always so professionally done.

Thanks for the advice Jenny.

Not easy to carve lines in the midst of whiteness!

Thanks, Fiona! We’ve got a new group of much younger Belties on the heath this year - they’re rather adorable and have already settled in. Thanks, Frank - yes, you’re right!

Really good Jenny x

Thank you, Diane!

Super Jenny, you have to think carefully and differently when creating linocuts and you’ve used some good techniques here

Thanks, Frank! I’ve finally learned to cut very slowly, constantly referring back to my original design - it’s so easy to make a slip in the wrong place! I’ve also started using white transfer paper to transfer the design to the vinyl - gives a clean, clear image to work with.

Many thanks, Coral!

My latest linocut. Have painted this local scene a few times before and thought I’d try a linocut of it - not so easy!
