Hello Jenny. I love the simplicity of this design It must have been difficult getting the beautifully round moon and those parallel lines. Great composition too with your trademark design.

I think that you are doing just fine Jenny, simplicity always works and I really like this attempt.

Thanks very much Diana, Alan and Kirstie for your encouraging comments - I'll keep persevering with these!

A simple design which has impact Jenny.

Lovely work Jenny

Thank you Marjorie, Petra, Carole and Margaret, your comments are really appreciated.

I love it Jenny, simple but very effective.

Thanks very much Satu.

Jenny it's a terrific design and personally, I think the 'unclean lines' as you put it, are all part of the charm and character of lino cuts. Keep going!

Thanks, Fiona. On reflection, I'm sure you're right that the charm of lino cuts is that they're not always perfect - I think I'm just too used to painting very neatly! (How's your Christmas card coming along - did you say you were going to do a linocut for that this year?)

I've never tried lino cut, but I can see it can produce interesting work with a big impact. I really like this.

Thanks Thea. It's worth tryIng linocuts, especially if you use the soft cut lino - they're fun to do and make a change from painting!

Yes, Jenny I did say I was thinking about doing a lino cut for my Christmas card this year.....guess what, I'm still thinking about it!!lol I must get on with it......

I just love it, Jenny!! Beautifully done!

Thank you, Chandra and Dermot, much appreciated.

Simple and effective Jenny. I use the mat side of softcut Lino - no idea which is the correct side.

Frank, thanks for commenting on this. Interesting looking back at it, I can see that the lines aren't at all clean compared with my latest lino cut - I found the soft cut lino a bit squidgy to use, and I tried both sides, whereas the Japanese vinyl I'm now using is a lot firmer without being too hard and cuts really smooth clean lines very easily and gives a much better result.

Second attempt at a linocut - tried to keep it simple and this time used the smooth side of the soft cut lino, but still found it quite difficult to cut clean lines - more practice needed I think!
