‘Julia’

His mother was killed at the age of 44 by a car driven by an off duty probationary police officer. The song is full of reminiscences and references to his mother such as ‘seashell eyes’ and ‘windswept smile’. The song is one of a few solo prefaces by Lennon as he sang whilst playing the acoustic guitar. When he was thinking about his mother he said he could himself on a beach with his mother, walking along the sand - hence the theme for my stained glass style watercolour painting. Lennon said he had lost his mother twice. Once as a child, and then when she physically died.
